How I Analyze Facebook Ads
A great Facebook ad communicates the benefits of the product or service, not solely the features. Think about it like this: a feature makes the product better but a benefit makes the customer’s life better. Features typically describe a physical aspect of the product, while benefits describe a change in the emotional state of the customer.
Alright, let’s see how these companies market their fitness classes:
#1: CorePower Yoga
Why this ad works:
The ad copy suggests starting 2025 strong and succinctly promotes a discounted first month and free yoga mat.
The image shows people doing crunches in a group setting helping the viewer visualize the value of the class.
The ad uses time pressure to motivate the viewer to click: “Sign up by 1/16…”
#2: Equinox
Why this ad works:
This Equinox ad stands out because it is not offering anything to the viewer. In fact, the text within the image says, “Equinox does not accept new memberships January 1st. Because commitment doesn’t wait.”
There is no ad copy above the image and no call-to-action button below the image, but the text within the image and tells the viewer to “Wake The F*** Up.” This ad reenforces the values of the Equinox brand, which helps drive their target customer to sign up with them.
Being different and provoking a strong reaction (positive or negative) can be an effective way to stimulate your target customer to take action and drive away the people you don’t want.

Stay hungry and see you in the next issue.
