How I Analyze Facebook Ads

A great Facebook ad communicates the benefits of the product or service, not solely the features. Think about it like this: a feature makes the product better but a benefit makes the customer’s life better. Features typically describe a physical aspect of the product, while benefits describe a change in the emotional state of the customer.

Alright, let’s see how these companies market their dog beds:

#1: Animals Matter

Why this ad works:

  • Strong ad copy that calls out key benefits, like providing a pet with “a peaceful, anxiety-free resting experience.”

  • The image does a great job of showing the bed in use, and the dog looks peaceful.

  • The ad copy within the image highlights key features, like being handcrafted and Prop 65 compliant. This helps the viewer feel more confident about the product and clicking the ad.

#2: Snoozer

Why this ad works:

  • This ad has a few things it could improve, like adding more copy about the specific benefits that a pet will receive from sleeping on this bed. But, the ad copy does provide a coupon code, “MOOSE10,” which can be an effective way to provoke curiosity in the viewer.

  • The image does a great job of showing how large the bed is and how a dog would use it. The image also looks very authentic and unpolished; this may help it stand out in a viewer’s feed.

  • I would change the headline below the image from “Home” to something that describes a benefit, like “Peaceful Relaxation For Your Best Friend.” But, I like the “For dog people. By dog people.” phrase in the description section.
