According to Google Trends, US search interest (over the last five years) for “Dog Bed” looks like this:
How I Analyze Facebook Ads
A great Facebook ad communicates the benefits of the product or service, not solely the features. Think about it like this: a feature makes the product better but a benefit makes the customer’s life better. Features typically describe a physical aspect of the product, while benefits describe a change in the emotional state of the customer.
Alright, let’s see how these companies market their dog beds:
#1: Animals Matter
Why this ad works:
Strong ad copy that calls out key benefits, like providing a pet with “a peaceful, anxiety-free resting experience.”
The image does a great job of showing the bed in use, and the dog looks peaceful.
The ad copy within the image highlights key features, like being handcrafted and Prop 65 compliant. This helps the viewer feel more confident about the product and clicking the ad.
#2: Snoozer
Why this ad works:
This ad has a few things it could improve, like adding more copy about the specific benefits that a pet will receive from sleeping on this bed. But, the ad copy does provide a coupon code, “MOOSE10,” which can be an effective way to provoke curiosity in the viewer.
The image does a great job of showing how large the bed is and how a dog would use it. The image also looks very authentic and unpolished; this may help it stand out in a viewer’s feed.
I would change the headline below the image from “Home” to something that describes a benefit, like “Peaceful Relaxation For Your Best Friend.” But, I like the “For dog people. By dog people.” phrase in the description section.

Stay hungry and see you in the next issue.
